Gulfstream Selects Contractor
for Installation of Mainline Extension
TAMPA, Fla. -- IGulfstream Natural Gas System, L.L.C. today announced
that it has awarded the construction contract for its 110-mile mainline
extension to Sheehan Pipe Line Construction Company based in Tulsa,
Okla. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
"Sheehan Pipe Line Construction Company brings nearly a century
of quality and safe pipeline construction to the Gulfstream project,"
said Al Taylor, Gulfstream operations vice president. "Sheehan
is very familiar with the Gulfstream pipeline, installing most of
the initial onshore segments of the line in Florida in 2001 and
2002. We are happy that they will be installing the phase II pipeline."
Gulfstream is extending its existing pipeline approximately 110
miles from Polk County, Fla., to Martin County, Fla. Subject to
obtaining all necessary regulatory approvals, limited construction
is tentatively scheduled to begin the last week in May, with the
majority of construction beginning in July and ending in December
2004.
Placed into service in May 2002, Gulfstream Natural Gas System,
L.L.C. is a 581-mile pipeline system with the capacity to deliver
1.1 billion cubic feet of natural gas each day to serve Florida's
growing energy needs. The pipeline is a joint development between
Williams (NYSE:WMB) and Duke Energy (NYSE:DUK).
